Description
KS-200A Plus
This is the very latest AIS product from Onwa Marine which builds on the strength of the best-selling KS-200A. Same reliability, same latest Class B+ 5 Watt technology and built into a new style modern sleek box. This latest model has added items, NMEA2000 data and Wi-Fi, whilst retaining NMEA0183 if you need to connect to 0183 equipment. This is a stand-alone AIS Class B+ 5 Watts power transceiver using SOTDMA technology for faster access to AIS time slots. It has beeen designed for use with Garmin (Navionics) Boating App for overlaying AIS targets onto the Boating APP chart or a similar application via wi-fi. You can also send AIS to other equipment, for example a chart plotter, radar etc. to display AIS targets overlaid onto your display. Data connection is by NMEA0183, NMEA2000 or wi-fi; NMEA0183 is by two wire connections in the 200A+ power/data cable or by simply plugging into an NMEA2000 backbone. A new feature on this device is the ability to program the unit with your AIS details by Wi-fi rather than via RS232/serial to USB connection to a PC (although can still be programmed this way). However we send the 200A+ out ready to go and will include your AIS set-up as a free service if you provide your AIS information. Pairing with a tablet or phone to use the Boating App is a user function, and requires some changes to be made to the wi-fi settings on your tablet or phone. If you haven’t done this before then it is no more difficult than connecting anything by wi-fi and we will send a step-by-step procedure to follow. Friendly help is always just a phone call away if you do need a hand with this.
By the way, this product doesn't replace the previous NMEA0183 only KS-200A, which is still available if Wi-Fi and NMEA2000 aren't needed.
KS-200A Plus Features:
- NMEA2000. NMEA0183. Wi-Fi
- Wi-fi transmit and receive: use for setting up and sending to wi-fi enabled devices
- GPS indicator that pulses orange when GPS is inadequate and solid green with a good GPS - on start up it pulses orange as the satellites are located then goes solid green when good GPS is established. This is so very valuable as a dud GPS signal will result in Vessel Tracket sited and other vessels not knowing where you are
- Transmit and Receive indicators - Transmit indicator - transmitter flash repetion rate depends upon speed. Stopped 3 minutes, more than 3 kts 20 seconds, more than 23 kts 2 seconds
- Current drain at 12 volts is 130 m/a (average transmit and receive when vessel is stopped). Note that on transmission there as a very brief increase in current consumption, this is so short it is difficult to measure. As the frequency of transmits occur more often with speed the average current drain will reflect the increases transmission pulses. Onwa consumption figure is 200m/a - which will be allowing for speed of transmissions
- Compliance: IEC62287, IEC60945, ITU-RM.1371-4, IEC61162, IEC61108, IEC61993-2
