This model has everything built in - with both Class B+ AIS and sounder/fishfinder. All these features in one small boxhow do they manage to do this? Well, years of practice is the answer.

 Whilst the 'big name' manufactures have been producing basic chart plotters, Onwa have been producing plotters with AIS transceivers built-in since 2014. Over the years they have just got better and better and the ultimate result is the X version with not only 5 Watt Class B+ AIS but also with a built in 600 Watt Sonar/Sounder fish-finder.

All Onwa AIS transceivers are the latest Class B+ 5-Watt version with the same SOTDMA technology as Class A commercial vessels although at reduced power (Class A being 12,5 Watts). SOTDMA technology has advantages in performance over the older CSTDMA providing faster access to AIS transmission slots and higher power. If you are researching AIS transmitters you will find that some manufacturers are still offering old Class B CSTDMA transmitters and they will likely be more expensive than Onwa products using the very latest version.
